Team & Club Reward to Spokane Humane Society - January 19, 2015
Pool World wants to give a HUGE THANKS to our customer Larry C. for donating his Team & Club Rewards to the Spokane Humane Society! Thank you for supporting such a great local organization!!
The Spokane Humane Society is a local non-profit public charity dedicated to the welfare of companion animals. Since 1897, we have acted as a refuge for animals in peril by providing care, shelter, and placement for tens of thousands of lost, neglected, and unwanted animals in the greater Spokane area. The number of animals we serve has varied over the years based upon our mission and role as animal control or in our current role as a companion animal adoption shelter.
Larry was able to donate a Team & Club Rewards through the purchase of his new Caldera Tarino hot tub. This hot tub was ideal for him because it met all of his needs while being energy efficient with easy of maintenance! He has the perfect view of the lake, mountains and is undercover to ensure easy access all year long!

Team & Club Reward to Salvation Army - January 16, 2015
Pool World wants to give a big thanks to Carl & Lynne L. for selecting The Salvation Army as the organization to receive a $100 Donation!! Thank you Carl & Lynne!!
The Salvation Army has a history of serving the Spokane area since 1891 and annually they serve about 40,000 people. Their programs provide a variety of support programs that benefit the poor, the homeless, the hungry and the destitute. The work doesn’t stop in our community but reaches around the world! They are a wonderful organization and we are happy to be able to donate to such a wonderful organization!
They purchased a 2014 Caldera Kauai hot tub that has 31 different hydromassaging jets. The Kauai also includes superior filtration, and has multiple water care packages including ozone, chlorine or non chlorine options! Can’t forget the variety of accessories available!

Fight Seasonal Affective Disorder - January 15, 2015
Are you tired of waking up to days filled with grey skies and fog? Are you ready for some sunshine to melt away the winter blues? It’s not uncommon for people to feel sluggish and tired when there are limited hours of daylight, cold, wet weather has moved in, and outdoor activities are limited. Well, Pool World has a few recommendations on how to improve your life on a daily basis and how to limit the impact of Seasonal Affective Disorder.
Did you know that SAD normally starts when daylight hours start to shorten and it has the ability to stick around till spring? Apparently, people who suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder are 60 to 90% more likely to be women then men.
Here are a few tips to fight your way through the winter blues!
Make sure you’re taking vitamin D. Vitamin D does wonders for the body by preventing cancers, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, and the list goes on.
Stock up on the Omega-3 during the Winter months. Omega-3 supplements have been shown to improve depression and bipolar disorder. People who suffer from arthritis and asthma will also see a reduction with inflammation and stiffness. Omega-3 even has benefits for your heart and circularly system.
Eat a healthy diet. Everyone’s mood and energy is greatly impacted when and what they decide to eat. If you eat healthier food options and reduce sugar intake, your body is going to feel better. Try incorporating more complex carbohydrates like brown rice, whole wheat breads, veggies, and fruits to ensure a well balanced diet. Eating healthy provides you with the nutrients your body craves while stabilizing your blood sugars and your energy.
Embrace the Winter season. Instead of curling up inside, venture outside and see what Winter has to offer. Remember to dress the part and wear layers. You may find a Winter sport that you really enjoy like ice skating, snowboarding, or even sledding!
Get social! Reach out to your family and friends to plan a coffee date, dinner, shopping, or maybe a Super Bowl party. Interacting with your loved ones is a sure way to lighten the mood and lift your spirits!
Enjoy the sunshine! Make sure to take advantage of daylight hours especially when the sun is shining! Being out and enjoying sunlight provides your body to create and process Vitamin D. Sunlight has the ability to release neurotransmitters that assist the brain and improves your mood. If you happen to live in an area where sunlight is limited, the use of a tanning bed during the Winter months is a wonderful way to obtain your daily Vitamin D year around!
